The Hopewell Valley Historical Society presents Homes on Main - Pennington Historic Home Tour.

This tour of historic homes on Pennington’s Main Street will take place Saturday, April 19, from 11:00am to 4:00pm, rain or shine. The tour will begin at The Pennington School where free parking is available. Check-in will be at the hospitality area there, where you will pick up your prepaid tickets or purchase tickets the day of the event.

Stroll the tree - shaded streets of Pennington on your way to each of the 11 historic homes, all located on Main Street. Additional stops on the tour include a historic bank and landmark church.  Along the way, enjoy horse and carriage rides, excellent cafes and coffee shops, and visit some of the unique specialty shops in this charming downtown area.

Main Street America evokes memories of the past - pre-suburbs, pre-shopping malls, and pre-multiplex cinemas.  These Pennington homes stand as landmarks to this town's rich past while simultaneously revealing its vital present.

Hopewell Valley is steeped in history and tradition - from its colonial inception, to its role in the Revolutionary War, to the advent of the railroad, to its thriving development in a post-industrial housing boom.  Preserving such history while keeping pace with the modern world requires a delicate balance - a balance displayed by these wonderful feature homes.  Each has been chosen because of its historic architecture and unique story. Many have been lovingly restored to retain the integrity of the original even as they reveal necessary modern changes.

The Hopewell Valley Historical Society is a non-profit organization founded to preserve, protect, and promote awareness of the long, rich heritage of historic Hopewell Valley. Formed in 1975, the Society strives to keep local history alive by collecting artifacts, publishing an award-winning newsletter, and offering programs in community on history that are open to the public at no charge. We represent the distinct, though interrelated, communities of Hopewell Township, Pennington Borough, and Hopewell Borough, located in western central New Jersey.

The tour is being sponsored by Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty, along with generous support from numerous other local businesses and individuals.
