About the event

The Hopewell Valley Historical Society's 50th year will kick off September 28th with our annual meeting at the Burrowes/Oldis house. The house has been dated in part to 1715, in part to 1800, and in part to the early 20th century. The New Jersey State Historic Preservation Commission has determined it to be eligible for the National Historic Register. We are grateful to Hopewell Township and the Hopewell Township Historic Preservation Commission for allowing us to use it.
Our Membership meeting will begin at 2, followed by refreshments and Dr. Lurie's talk, focused on her latest book "Taking Sides in Revolutionary New Jersey," at 3.
You can attend in person or by zoom, but registration is REQUIRED for both.
Click the green RSVP button, below, to register
The capacity is limited at the Burrowes/Oldis house so registering is very important. Thanks.

About the book.
The American Revolution in New Jersey lasted eight long years, during which many were caught in the middle of a vicious civi war. Taking Sides in Revolutionary New Jersey uses numerous brief biographies to illustrate the American Revolution's complexity; it quotes from documents, pamphlets, diaries, letters, and poetry, a variety of sources to provide insight into the thoughts and reactions of those living through it all.
