Remembering the Bicentennial

Stop by our display case at the Mercer County Library - Hopewell Branch to see memorabilia from 1976 (some of us remember it well!) What a different kind of celebration that was.
The display is made possible thanks to the family of the late H. David Earling, project director of the NJ Bicentennial Commission, for the loan of unique artifacts & memorabilia. The Commission began in 1974 and concluded in 1983. When it was over, the Commission gave money back to the state!
And to the family of Marge Tovey, Pennington artist, teacher and stamp collector, for their donation of her first day covers from the Hopewell Valley & throughout the United States.
This is a peek of the collection but you will have to come in person to see the whole thing! If you come on a Monday or Friday afternoon, be sure to say hello to our busy Archives volunteers!
