Plucked from the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum newsletter (We are having a morning of reading our partners' newsletters!) Ways for you to follow them are here.

Juneteenth!

Also, SSAAM's astoundingly beautiful exhibit, The Head That Wears the Crown is returning this summer!

Copied from their newsletter:

"We're pleased to share that The Head That Wears the Crown: Black Women's Headwear from Slavery to Freedom is returning to SSAAM this summer. Visitors will once again have the opportunity to experience this award-winning exhibition, which explores the beauty, creativity, resilience, and cultural significance of African American women's headwear across generations. The exhibition has reopened at SSAAM and will remain on view throughout the summer.

"The exhibition is also continuing its journey beyond our walls. From June 1–30, a traveling installation of The Head That Wears the Crown will be on display at the Montgomery Public Library, bringing these powerful stories and images to an even broader audience. We invite you to visit the exhibition at SSAAM, Montgomery Public Library, or both, and experience this moving tribute to Black women's history, faith, identity, and self-expression.

"'Get ready to spend time with SSAAM this Summer! Visit the National Historic Register-listed Mt. Zion AME Church and explore the rich history and contributions of African Americans in Central New Jersey. Join our dedicated staff and docents for an inspiring journey through the stories that shaped our region!
